Manus vs Genspark: Our Verdict
Two credit-metered 'super agents' answer the same question in opposite ways. We put both through the same week of research, deck-building, and multi-step tasks to decide which one is worth the credit anxiety.
We recommend Genspark for the working professional who wants an autonomous agent to actually finish a deliverable, a research brief, a slide deck, a booking phone call, without a running credit meter for everyday chat. Manus is the pick for a narrower audience: solo operators who need deep, asynchronous multi-step execution and are willing to budget credits for it.
Manus and Genspark are the two credit-metered general-purpose agents most working professionals now weigh against each other. Both take a plain-English goal, plan the steps, browse the web, run code, and return a finished artifact: a report, a deck, a spreadsheet, a live web page. The philosophies are opposite. Manus is a solo virtual worker inside a sandboxed cloud computer that runs asynchronously; you close the laptop, it keeps working. Genspark is a "Mixture-of-Agents" workspace that routes each sub-task to a different frontier model, cross-checks the outputs, and returns a structured page or deliverable, usually while you watch.
Neither is a chatbot, and neither should be bought as one. We ran both through the same week of tasks in July 2026 (deep research, a 10-slide deck, a small web page, a real outbound phone call on Genspark, and a multi-step data extraction job on Manus) and judged them round by round. Each round names a winner and states the concrete procedure we used to decide it.
Manus ran further on its own. Its sandbox and asynchronous execution model pushed the recruitment-pipeline task end to end while we were away from the machine, and independent testing on the GAIA benchmark for General AI Assistants has reported Manus scoring 88.5%, ahead of OpenAI Deep Research at 75.2%. Genspark finished the same jobs, but with more back-and-forth in the loop; the Super Agent is faster to a first draft but likelier to hand control back mid-run.
How we tested itWe assigned each agent the same three multi-step goals — build a competitive-landscape brief on five named vendors, generate a 10-slide pitch deck from that brief, and extract a 40-row candidate list from three public job boards — and counted the steps each finished without prompting for help.
Genspark's Sparkpage format returned sourced summaries with visible citations and, in our set, fewer unsupported claims. The Mixture-of-Agents architecture (the orchestration layer routes each sub-task to a different frontier model, Claude, GPT, or Gemini, and reflects across them before finalizing) showed up as fewer confident hallucinations. Manus's research output was serviceable but more prone to filling gaps with the model's guess when the browser hit a paywall.
How we tested itWe ran the same five research prompts on each tool (a market brief, a legal-landscape summary, a technical comparison, a company profile, and a policy explainer), then had two reviewers score the outputs blind for citation coverage, source diversity, and factual accuracy against a known answer key.
Genspark is a media workspace with AI Slides, AI Sheets, AI Sites, and native Office plugins for PowerPoint, Excel, and Word added in the Workspace 4.0 update in April 2026. A 10-slide deck landed in roughly a minute, exported cleanly, and could be edited inline. Manus can generate slides and deploy websites too, but its output is text-heavier and Genspark's format library and one-click fact-check step do more of the finishing work.

Manus has no equivalent voice channel. On the web-transaction round the two were closer, but Genspark's outbound-call capability is a category the other side does not compete in.

Every Manus action draws down the pool; a complex web-app build has been reported to consume roughly 900 credits, and monthly credits do not roll over. For everyday use, Genspark is the more predictable bill.

This is Manus's home ground. The cloud sandbox and asynchronous execution kept it working while the user was offline; Manus Pro also allows up to 20 concurrent tasks and 20 scheduled tasks. Genspark's Super Agent is faster on shorter runs but is used more interactively; long unattended jobs are not its shape.

Where the verdict turned
These two products are not interchangeable, and the marketing category (“AI super agent”) flattens a real difference. Manus operates as a virtual worker; its objective is to take a complex, multi-step instruction and see it through to completion with minimal human intervention.
Genspark started as an AI search tool and grew into something closer to a multi-agent content workspace. Its Super Agent takes a prompt, assigns sub-tasks to specialized agents (research, slides, spreadsheets, image generation), and returns a structured output called a Sparkpage.
That split shows up in every round. Manus wins where the work is deep, one-off, and best done while the operator is offline. Genspark wins where the work is a deliverable (a sourced brief, a deck, a page, a booked reservation) and where the operator wants the loop kept short. Most working professionals spend more of their week on the second kind of task than the first, which is why the recommendation goes to Genspark for the broad case, and why Manus keeps a clear lane at the top end for solo research and heavy autonomous execution.
What each one actually is
Manus AI launched as a general-purpose AI agent with virtual computer access. It goes past the traditional chatbot pattern: instead of just answering questions, Manus plans multi-step tasks on its own, browses the web in real time, writes and executes code, analyzes data, and delivers finished results from a single prompt. It is built by Butterfly Effect, an AI startup founded in China and headquartered in Singapore since mid-2025.
One architectural detail matters. Manus is fully asynchronous. You can close the browser or shut the laptop while it works in the cloud. Genspark is often used more interactively, with the user in a live back-and-forth to refine the output.
Genspark’s differentiator is architectural in a different way. It runs what co-founder Eric Jing calls a “Mixture-of-Agents” architecture, built on three pillars: a roster of different LLMs, 80+ in-house tools, and a set of curated datasets. An orchestration layer routes each sub-task to the best-fit model based on complexity, speed, and accuracy, and a reflection step compares outputs against each other before moving on. The practical result is a research artifact with visible sources and fewer confident guesses.

The simplified 2026 Manus lineup lists Free at $0/month, Pro ladders up through $20, $40, and $200 per month tiers (each with a bigger monthly credit pool), and Team starts at $20 per seat per month with a 2-member minimum. Genspark has three main plans: Free ($0), Plus ($24.99/mo or $19.99/mo annual), and Pro ($249.99/mo or $199.99/mo annual).
The effective cost is where they diverge. On paid Genspark plans, AI chat and image generation cost zero credits through December 2026, which means the credit pool is spent on the heavy work (video, decks, phone calls, long agent runs) rather than on everyday conversation. Manus has no equivalent carve-out: every action draws from the pool. Reported credit consumption per complex task has ranged from about 900 credits for a Manus web-app build, to about 100 credits for a Genspark slide deck, to about 50 credits for an AI phone call. Manus’s monthly credits do not roll over, though purchased add-on credits stay valid as long as the paid subscription is active.
One caveat on both sides. Genspark’s most attractive feature, unlimited chat and image generation, is a promotion and not a permanent term. Core AI chat and image generation are currently zero-credit on paid plans, but that is guaranteed only through December 31, 2026. Manus’s ownership picture is also still open. Meta announced a roughly $2 billion deal to acquire Manus in December 2025, but China’s antitrust regulator blocked the deal on April 27, 2026, after a months-long probe. The product is still running normally, but the long-term ownership question is unresolved, which is worth weighing before committing to an annual plan.
Who should buy which
Choose Genspark if your week is mostly deliverables (research briefs, decks, one-page sites, a phone call you’d rather not make yourself) and you want the AI-chat and image-generation lanes not to eat your credits. Where Genspark credits go: AI chat is zero, a research page ~5–80, a slide deck ~100+, a 3-minute phone call ~180, and video generation is the most expensive line item. The Plus plan at $24.99/month is the right entry for most individual users; Pro at $249.99 earns its price only for teams generating video and media at volume.
Choose Manus if your work is deep, one-off, and often runs while you are away from the machine. Manus is strong for individual research and web tasks, but it has no shared team workspace, no persistent memory, and only a small set of connectors. Solo operators doing heavy multi-step research, scraping, or long web-form workflows are the honest fit. Pro at $20/month is enough to learn the credit burn rate; the $40 tier’s 7-day trial is the way to test whether the workload sustains at scale before committing to $200 or annual billing.
A practical combination is reasonable, too: Genspark for the deliverable and the everyday chat, Manus for the long unattended job. But if forced to one, our recommendation for most working professionals is Genspark. For solo research operators who value depth over breadth, Manus.
