Yotpo vs Okendo: Our Verdict
Two Shopify-first review platforms, two very different pricing shapes. We compared the live plans, feature gates, and integrations to decide which one a small Shopify store should actually pay for.
Okendo is the platform we recommend for a small Shopify store whose primary job is collecting product reviews and photo/video UGC and pushing star ratings into Google. Yotpo is the right choice only for stores that need a free tier to start, or that plan to run Yotpo Reviews and Yotpo Loyalty on the same vendor.
Yotpo and Okendo answer the same question in different ways. Both are Shopify-first reviews and UGC platforms. Both syndicate star ratings to Google. Both bundle loyalty, referrals, and other retention products on top. The gap shows up in what each plan actually includes at the price a small store can afford, and in which integrations sit behind higher tiers.
We compared the current published plans, feature tables, and integration documentation on each vendor's own pricing page, and judged the two head to head on the criteria that decide whether a small Shopify store turns more of its existing traffic into paying customers. Each round names a winner and states the concrete procedure we used to get there.
At the door, Yotpo is cheaper. Yotpo Reviews & UGC has a Free plan up to 50 orders per month, and Starter begins at $15/month and scales with monthly order volume up to $129/month at 1,000 orders. Okendo's Essential plan starts at $19/month for up to 200 orders. For a store under 50 orders a month, Yotpo Free is a real option; Okendo has no permanent free equivalent for a store that wants paid-plan features.
How we tested itWe read both vendors' current pricing pages and priced a store at three volume points, 50, 250, and 1,000 monthly orders, on the lowest paid plan that includes photo/video reviews and the option to remove vendor branding.
Yotpo Starter adds photo and video reviews, manual review requests, the option to remove Yotpo branding, Google Rich Snippets, a reviews carousel, and live chat support. It doesn't include AI review summaries, smart sorting, seller ratings, custom questions, or the Klaviyo integration; those sit on Pro, which starts at $119/month. Okendo Essential, by contrast, is the same starting point Shopify stores use to run a serious reviews program on Okendo.
How we tested itWe compared what each vendor's cheapest paid plan actually includes, reading the feature tables on yotpo.com/pricing/reviews and okendo.io side by side, specifically photo/video capture, on-brand styling, Google Rich Snippets, and the review widget.
Both platforms are official Google partners for Seller Ratings. On Yotpo, seller ratings and Google Shopping Ads syndication are Pro features, which begins at $119/month. On Okendo, the same star-rating syndication into Google is the reason many small Shopify stores pick it over cheaper review apps, and it's available without the feature gating that pushes Yotpo customers to a higher tier. For a small store running Google Ads as its primary acquisition channel, Okendo reaches the outcome for less committed spend.
How we tested itWe checked each vendor's own documentation for Google Seller Ratings and Google Shopping Ads syndication, and noted which plan tier is required to turn each on.
This is the round where Okendo's pricing shape works against a small store. Okendo's Klaviyo, Postscript, and Attentive integrations sit on the Power plan at $299/month. Yotpo brings its Klaviyo integration into Pro at $119/month. A store that already runs Klaviyo flows and wants review data syncing into them will hit that gate sooner on Okendo.
How we tested itWe read each vendor's integration documentation for Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, and Omnisend, and recorded the plan tier required to enable the connection.
Okendo runs on Shopify only. If the store is on BigCommerce, WooCommerce, or a custom stack, Okendo isn't an option. Yotpo's integrations extend across Shopify, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce (Magento), and more, with the most complete feature set on Shopify. For any small store not on Shopify, this round is decisive on its own.
How we tested itWe read each vendor's platform support in its own documentation and Shopify App Store listing.
At a working feature set for a small Shopify store, Okendo Growth at $119/month adds AI summaries, Google Shopping ratings, and deeper analytics. Yotpo's comparable tier is Pro, which starts at $119/month and scales up with order volume. The prices are close on paper, but Okendo bundles loyalty, referrals, quizzes, and surveys into the same customer profile at their own tiers, while Yotpo bills Reviews and Loyalty as separate product lines.
How we tested itWe priced a realistic small-store bundle, the tier that unlocks photo/video reviews, AI review summaries, seller ratings, and a Klaviyo integration, on each platform at 200 and 500 monthly orders.
Where the verdict turned
Yotpo and Okendo do most of the same jobs. Both collect product reviews and photo/video UGC on a Shopify store, both display them in a widget on the product-detail page, both moderate submissions, and both push star ratings into Google. The differences that mattered on the test bench were where each vendor draws its plan lines.
Yotpo wins on the entry door. Yotpo Reviews & UGC runs five plans: Free at $0/month up to 50 orders per month; Starter from $15/month scaling with monthly order volume to $129/month at 1,000 orders; Pro starting at $119/month and scaling with volume; Premium and Enterprise custom-quoted. That Free tier is a real product, not a trial: Free covers the essentials, automatic review requests, a reviews widget with star ratings, moderation tools, an SEO page, an analytics dashboard, and email support, plus 200 bonus review credits in the first month. A brand-new Shopify store under 50 orders a month can run Yotpo Free indefinitely, and Okendo doesn’t offer a comparable permanent plan.
Okendo wins on what a paid plan actually gives you. Okendo runs tiers on Shopify starting with Free, then $19/mo Essential, $119/mo Growth, and $299/mo Power, with an Advanced tier above that.
The Google Shopping question
For any small Shopify store where Google Ads is a primary acquisition channel, Seller Ratings are usually the reason to pay for a reviews platform in the first place. Both vendors are official Google partners for it. Okendo is an official Google partner for Google Shopping and Google Seller Ratings. On Yotpo, the same functionality sits above the entry plan: Starter adds photo and video reviews, manual review requests, the option to remove Yotpo branding, Google Rich Snippets for search results, a reviews carousel, and live chat support; Pro adds AI-powered review summaries and smart sorting, seller ratings, Community Q&A, custom questions in review requests, multi-user account access, syndication to Google Shopping Ads, and integrations with tools like Klaviyo.
So the practical decision is between Yotpo Pro (starting at $119/month) and Okendo Growth ($119/month) for a store that wants AI summaries, seller ratings, and Google Shopping syndication in one place. At that price point, we found Okendo the better fit for a small Shopify store on two counts: a unified customer profile across Reviews, Loyalty, Referrals, Quizzes, and Surveys, and lighter feature gating on the reviews product itself.
Where Yotpo still wins
Two situations still make Yotpo the right call.
The store isn’t on Shopify. Okendo runs on Shopify only. If you’re on WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, or a custom stack, it isn’t an option. Yotpo, by contrast, integrates with Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce (Magento), and more. On any non-Shopify stack, this comparison ends here.
The store already runs Klaviyo and wants review data in its flows at the lowest possible plan tier. On Okendo, Power ($299) opens up Klaviyo, Postscript, and Attentive integrations, plus multi-store syndication. On Yotpo, the Klaviyo integration is included in Pro at $119/month. For a small store that has already built its email program on Klaviyo, that’s a meaningful gap.
Who should buy which
Choose Yotpo if the store isn’t on Shopify, if it does under 50 orders a month and wants a genuinely free way to start collecting reviews, or if the plan is to run reviews and loyalty on the same vendor and the Klaviyo integration needs to land at the lowest tier that offers it.
Choose Okendo if the store is on Shopify, does more than 50 orders a month, and the reviews program’s primary job is high-quality UGC on the product-detail page and syndicated star ratings on Google, with a path to add referrals, quizzes, and surveys under the same customer profile as the store grows.
Reviews are one part of the getting-customers stack. Stores whose primary need is capturing reviews to close local search, service businesses more than DTC, should read our verdict on AI review request tools for small local service businesses instead. Small Shopify stores that already have the reviews program running and want to recover lapsed customers should see our verdict on AI win-back email tools for small ecommerce stores. And for stores that need short-form testimonial capture outside a Shopify catalog, services, SaaS, coaches, our Senja vs Testimonial.to verdict is the better starting point.
For a small Shopify store choosing today, we recommend Okendo.
